This is our documentation of creating the service. We are going to cover here “Mission”, “Design” and “Deployment” (07/Sep/2020–13/Sep/2020).

You can read our pitch deck on Vol.7.

Mission

We discussed whether we should have vision and mission statements or only a mission statement. Then, we decided to have only a mission after a long discussion because of two reasons.

  1. Keep it simple so that everyone can easily remember.
  2. The “Do or do not” discussion would be easier by having only a mission statement that represents what we would like to achieve in Cocchi.

To provide new stories through local experiences

Currently, “Cocchi” is a map for sharing favorite places within communities. We know better than anyone what we have around us where we live and we would like to know nice local places when we go somewhere. Therefore, we would like to create a world where users can discover new stories through local experiences by selling and buying their favorite maps around the world.

Design

Target

As we’ve already mentioned in Vol.1, our core target is 18–22 years old female university student who lives in Tokyo. She is an active person that likes to explore new cafes and restaurants every week with friends or boyfriend. When she has time, she is looking for cafes and restaurants on Instagram and shares them with her friends and boyfriend in the chat group.

It is nice that chat groups are very active but too much information flowing on the chat so that it’s very difficult to manage them and find information later when they want to visit already shared places on the chat.

Retro

Cocchi is a safe space where people can easily share their favorite places within communities. We would like to represent warmness by our design so we tested out below retro design and asked people whether people feel retro or not.

We interviewed two people and both of them didn’t feel retro with the below design, so we are going to make more examples and test with users to decide our color.

Domestic Cozy

Deployment

We started deployment to launch the app. Created community and profile page.

Deployment on Netlify

Next Step

Test the different colors and synthesize interviews.

Wrap Up Party

We went to a nice local cafe with our classmate from design school!
