This is our documentation of creating the service. We are going to cover here “Low-fidelity Concept Movie”, “Findings from User Interview”, “Business Model (FUN)”, “Prototype for Group User Testing” and “Group User Testing” (27/Jul/2020–09/Aug/2020)

You can read our first user interview on Vol.4.

Low-fidelity Concept Movie

We made a quick concept video to avoid explaining context each time in user testing and to see the reaction of the user on our hypothesis based on the movie. The movie is in Japanese because we showed it to a Japanese interviewee.

Findings from User Interview

We interviewed 4 people this time. 24 years old female (the second year working), 24 years old male graduate student who has a girlfriend, and two 23 years old female undergraduate students.

Potential innovators

People who make a lot of pins on Google map for places to go with friends or a boy/girlfriend but there are too many pins on the map and messed up. (80% of below pins are restaurants and cafes)

Male user

They would like to have functions such as scheduling and restaurants recommendation to minimize the cost of finding places rather than photos. However, if their girlfriend is using “Cocchi” to organize information and save photos, males would use it as well. In addition, people who love to map out favorite places on Google Maps would be potential innovators as we mentioned earlier.

Potential “LIFE” user

Working adults are looking forward to new beginnings outside of workplaces, therefore they would be potential our “LIFE” (second phase) user.

Next actions

  1. Link the channel and the pin symbol on the map to organize the map.
  2. Currently, users can plot the location on the map based on Google URL or current location. It is annoying to visit google map and copy URLs if you want to plot places not where you are, so add a map interaction to be able to plot the location where you want.
  3. Focus on more map interaction to differentiate with other apps such as Instagram and note function of LINE.

Business Model (FUN)

We would like to monetize “Cocchi” not only from the enterprise but also from the consumer side by providing value through our service. So far we are thinking of two ways of monetizing.

Firstly, subscription model which provides discount coupon to our user based on their preferences. Secondly, get transaction fee per online payment of consumer from the enterprise.

Prototype for Group User Testing

User view

Added personal and group page. In addition, updated UI to be able to see more photos at a glance.

27/Jul/2020–02/Aug/2020

Updated so that you can update the channel and place after posting.

03/Aug/2020–09/Aug/2020

Added default icon of image and loading page for uploading the image.

03/Aug/2020–09/Aug/2020

Dashboard

Introduced Google analytics to be able to monitor user behavior.

Group User Testing

We tested our service to a group consists of 3 people from our school in Costa Rica from 5th August to 9th August and set KPIs as follows; 3 sessions, 1 posts per person in 5 days.

Result

The actual result was as below. Only 3 sessions and 1 post in total during 5 days. haha

Number of sessions
Number of posts

Findings

We interviewed them and tried to understand the reasons why they haven’t used our service.

  1. Didn’t go outside because of COVID-19.
  2. Didn’t watch the shared tutorial.
  3. Didn’t understand whether other people in the group or not because there is no channel and not showing that other users are in the group.
  4. The first impression was that it seemed difficult to use because of too much minimum design and felt like word and excel.

Next actions

  1. Pandemic is a noncontrollable factor but no one knows how long this situation continues and will happen other pandemics in the future, so we need to come up with some solutions so that people will use our service even under the pandemic situation.
  2. We instructed the tester on how to use our app and add it on the home screen by using a video tutorial and text user manual as below. However, no one added the app on the home screen, so we will support introducing the app next time through teleconference.
  3. Set default channels such as “restaurant”, “cafe”, “bar” and “shopping” for the sake of clarity.
  4. Show the number of people in the group. This is not urgent because next time we will support setting the app all together through teleconference.
  5. We are still trying to figure out what kind of interaction and design is the best through interview, so will work on the graphic user interface in the coming week.

Next Step

Conduct group testing in Japan and finalize our UI on the app.

Wrap Up Party

We review and celebrate our work every weekend together.
